Cheshire Squash Rackets Association
Cheshire Cup 2014
Any Cheshire based club may enter to compete for the title of best club in the county for that year.
Traditionally men’s and ladies teams of five players were entered and competed separately throughout the year to culminate in a final day event at the end of the season. Due to dwindling entries in the past, the Cheshire committee decided to change the format of event as last year on a mixed team basis comprising of 3 men and 2 women per team.
As the format has changed, so the criteria for entry has had to change also. Please refer to the enclosed competition rules for eligibility.
Last year with only 6 entries in the Cheshire Cup it was decided to hold the event on a Round Robin
basis. The general consensus was very positive and so, it could also be the basis for this year’s tournament as well.
You can enter by email, post or by phone; however, it would be helpful if you could return your entry forms as soon as possible and no later than 22nd January 2014 with payment please.
The draw (knock-out or round robin) will be emailed to you shortly afterwards. Depending on the number of entries we anticipate 2 or 3 rounds before the finals day. All rounds except the finals will be played at the designated home team club according to the draw.
If the entry numbers allow, then
Round 1 played by: on or before Sunday 9th February.
Quarter final played by: on or before Sunday 9th March
Semi final played by: on or before Sunday 6th April
The finals day to be held on Sunday 13thApril, after the Easter break, at Warrington Sports Club.
