Rugby Club returns to KSC

It is good to welcome Knutsford Rugby Club back; they have started using the Sports Club's kitchen and bar facilities after  their home games.

After playing at the Knutsford Academy, both the Firsts and the Colts teams and their opponents come back to the Club for their meals and drinks.

New date - Tennis Courts work now starts October 10th

This resurfacing will begin on Monday October 10th and is expected to take around 2-3 weeks, dependent on weather.

There will be no heavy equipment on site so any disruption should be minimal.

The courts will then match, in appearance and texture, courts 3, 4 and 5.

Free Cardiac Screening Day from Knutsford First Responders

Knutsford First Responders are sponsoring a Cardiac Screening Day, when 14-35 year-olds can get a free screening: see the poster in the Gallery on the Main Club home page. The idea is to identify those young people, especially sportsmen/women, who have a hidden heart problem.

Please note the need to pre-book for the event which takes place at the Knutsford Methodist Church on October 1st.

Main Club helps fund resurfacing of tennis courts

The Main Club Committee has approved a significant amount from the Development Fund towards resurfacing of tennis courts 1 and 2. These courts will then have the same modern "look and feel" of the refurbished courts 3, 4 and 5.

One quarter of the total is in the form of a grant and the rest in the form of a zero-interest loan repayable over a number of years. Tennis are also to be congratulated as the major part of the costs of the resurfacing will be paid from monies earned through their own fundraising activities

The Development Fund arises out of income earned by the Main Club from facilities hire, bar profits and donations. Money is available to all the sports sections through a simple application/approval system.

Fundraising works

The ladies and gents Friday morning tennis groups raised nearly £600 recently towards the resurfacing of courts 1 & 2. Unsurprisingly the morning's competition was won by Keith Edminson. The ladies provided the outstanding lunch, the men supplied the drinks.

Our first fundraiser for the Children's Adventure Farm Trust, the recent wine tasting also raised £160 as well as proving yet another successful event for the new bar management team - @draughthouseKSC

Clubhouse kitchen given 4* rating by Cheshire East

Following an inspection by Cheshire East Council, our kitchen has been rated Grade 4 (out of 5) on the Food Standard Agency ratings system.

Considering the amount of usage the kitchen gets, this is a very good result and thanks must go to our cleaners (Sparkling Clean Cheshire) and Jacqui Garvey, who uses the kitchen every morning.

There is still room for improvement, so when using the kitchen can members please remember to leave it in as good a state as they found it.

Upcoming Clubhouse Events

The next main event is over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August.  The Hidden Beer and Cider Festival

In addition, I know its a long way off, but I've booked a live band and disco for Saturday 17 December 2016 for a Chairman's Christmas Concert.  This will be free to members and other halves, so please come along and celebrate with us.  It's likely that we will also have a New Year event in the Club House, so if you havent made arrangements already, keep the date free.

Thanks

Dave Clayton, Chairman
