Match: Knutsford 4 Home to AP Club 2

The Fab 4ths entertained AP Club 2 with a strong side and high hopes of a win. Geoff Dalton led off at 2 against the substantial Colin. 'Just move him around' they said: easier said than done, and Geoff went down 3-1. Gwyn Pickering played next at 1 and was one up in no time: this as more like it! But his opponent Phil tightened up his game and chased down Gwyn's drops to win 3-1. Could Guy Hill stop the rot? His oppo Rob had been out for a while, but it didn't show as he covered the court pretty well, dousing Guy's fireworks to the tune of 3-0. So our top three had made little impact and the match was lost already. Over to the new boys! Steve O'Hare at 4 played veteran Nigel who took the first. Steve evened it up and then took the third 10-8 : true grit! before cruising the fourth for an impressve 3-1 win. Finally David O'Brien at 5 took on Andy, and what a nail-biter it turned out to be! David took the first, lost the second 8-9 but came back to inch the third 9-8. 'Andy hasn't played for a while - just keep him running' said skip. Turned out Andy had been busy doing Triathlons! Andy took the fourth but David stormed back to take the last 9-0 - well played! A 3-2 defeat, but 8 valuable points.
