Knutsford 3 V Bollington 2

Another solid all round team performance results in a well deserved win against a strong Bollington team.

The match was always going to be tough as Walton found out at firth seed against the difficultNewton. Walton started well taking the first 9-5 butNewtonwas not to give in. A series of long rallies followed with both players feeling the heat but although fairly even,Newtontook the second and third giving him a  a 2-1 lead. From this point on Walton dug playing some steady squash and deep summoning great reserves of strength to level at 2-2. The fifth started evenly with both players tiring yet giving their all. Walton came out determined and dug deep to take the game and match 3-2.

Robinson was next on at fourth seed and started strongly playing a series of winners taking the first 9-3. Laird then began the fight back and after much to-ing and frowing, the second went to a tie with Robinson just coming out on top 10-9 to take a 2-0 lead. The third went much the same way and was even up to the last couple of points when Robinson summonsed his reserves of strength and took the game and math 3-0. A solid steady performance from Robinson, 2-0 to Knutsford.

Whitaker looking for a win after a little bad luck the previous game came out next against the athletic Barber and it was clear from the start that it was going to be tough. Whitaker started well and took the first with comfort 9-4. Barber was not to give in and after a grueller took the next 10-9 to level at 1 all. Whitaker blitzed the next 9-0 but Barber fought back again to level at 2-2 following a series of mistakes from Whitaker. The decider started evenly with both players making unforced errors but Whitaker wasn't to give in and after some long demanding rallies took the game 9-5 and match to Knutsford,. A fine performance and well deserved win. Man of the match this week.

Evans was next at 2 against the classy Shatwell. The first game was even although Evans started slowly making some simple mistakes and serving errors. However half way through he got his eye in coming back strongly to take the game to a tie. A series of long rallies followed but Shatwell edged in front taking the game 10-9. Evans fought bravely in the second the rallies continued but Shatwel just had the edge and took the second 9-2. The third was a different matter, by this time Evans was out like a bullet playing some classy squash and putting Shatwell on the back foot winning the game 9-5.All was not lost. The fourth was an even affair and an even battle with Evans giving his all until Shatwell just managed to edge in front and take the game 9-7. A fine performance from Evans who on a different day could have been the winner.

With a win already in the bag, last on was the vastly improving O'Hare against the wiley Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick started well taking te first few points as O Hare settled into his stride, coming back to take the first 9-7. Fitzpatrick was struggling with the unorthodox  O'Hare who retrieved everything that was thrown at him, covering the court majestically at times to take the next 9-3. Both players gave their all in the next game which started evenly with both players

stretching each other but O'Hare was not to be beaten and kept going and going to take the game and match 9-6. A great win 18 points to 9 and a much improving thirds.

O Hare is settling in well nicely at 1 and can only get better.
