Alderley Edge 2 v Knutsford 1

Misery for 1sts at Alderley Edge

No luck for knutsford tonight against a semi- weakened alderley team, missing both Harari and Wilshire.  Faulkner carrying a miserable cold, Risley a recovering injury, Strefford a hangover, Smith a pre-pubescent teen and Perry an unforeseen future abroad.  What a night.

Up first was the hungover Strefford,  the alcohol fumes still emanating from his breath and evaporating on the top of his head, fought well but just couldn't finish off the games, going down in consecutive tie breaks.

Next on was Risley against the so-called Fury.  Much arguing over lets and strokes by his oppo didn't put him off and narrowly lost in a 5th game tie break, having had match ball.....grrrrrrrrrr

Meanwhile on the other court Russell was getting a pounding from Leonard after taking the 1st to a tie.

The match lost it was now down to saving some pride a getting a few points on the board.  On at the same time was Faulkner against a grinning Perret and Smith against a hirsuite teen.  Smith couldn't get the young lad to stop running and ran out a 1-3 loser whilst Faulkner was battling his cold and the confident Perret.  A fit Glen would have demolished this guy, but his sniffles got the better of him.

Man of the match goes to Glen for turning up to support the teams and playing with man-flu.

All retired to the bar to drink alderley dry and drown our sorrows.

Better luck next week.
